by Erin Teegarden
the boys at pride toss a fat rubber dildo --
pink faux-flesh soars across the parade, across
processions of floats with queens and princes
of speedos.
back and forth we watch them throw it
sometimes one of them shakes it in the face
of a passing commissioner, or uses it to spank
the ass of a half naked dancer, but
mostly it’s just a crowd game of catch --
back and forth the blunt dick flies.
when it torpedoes for the second row girls,
we treat it like a tossed bouquet, grenade --
we scream and scatter; it bounces off the sidewalk.
we’re just here to look at neon fashion, man
to read the t-shirt slogans, maybe drink
a couple beers, maybe get some sun.
we are not interested in games men
like to play with themselves.
